Anamnesis

Anamnesis is a research collection of 26 sculptures that explores the eradication of The Commons in correlation with the rise of male dominated obstetric and gynecologic fields and the following impact on natural birth. Anamnesis was shown on May 10, 2025, on the Messina Campus in Barrytown, New York.

The Commons had been a vital resource for women in feudal society, offering more than material support; they were spaces of autonomy, cooperation, and knowledge transmission. As nature was reconceptualized as a machine, severed from its spiritual and maternal associations, the labor and knowledge of women - once entwined with the rhythms of land and life - were likewise devalued.
